  1.              THINNNED ZONE STABILIZED TORIC LENSES

  3. Hydrogel toric lenses may be prevented 
  4. from rotating by thinning the top and 
  5. bottom portion of the lens instead of 
  6. using prism.  The thin portions of the 
  7. lens stay under the lid margins.  If the 
  8. lens rotates such that the thin zones 
  9. are horizontal, when the patient blinks 
  10. the lid will hit the 
  11. thicker portion on 
  12. the side where the 
  13. lens has rotated up 
  14. and will push it back 
  15. down to keep the 
  16. lens aligned.

  18. Thin zones can be 
  19. used in place of 
  20. prism.
